"And we're talking about a Council District that's as well served by alternatives to driving as any place in the western hemisphere. I sincerely hope Council Member Brewer rethinks her posit"

""adds danger.""
Upper West Side Council Member Gale Brewer withdrew support for a bill to ban parking within 20 feet of street corners (daylighting) after Department of Transportation officials lobbied against the measure and presented a new parking-loss estimate. DOT told Brewer the law would remove 13,000 parking spaces per Council district, double the 6,500-per-district figure previously given under oath at an April Council hearing. StreetsPAC criticized the reversal and urged Brewer to reconsider.
