Feds hit NYC Department of Education with subpoena as Adams admin investigations heat up

The city Department of Education received a subpoena as part of a federal investigation targeting outgoing Schools Chancellor David Banks and his brother, Terence Banks.

The subpoena sought documents related to financial dealings involving Terence Banks, a consultant linked to companies that secured significant contracts with the city.

Banks retired from his position on September 25, shortly after federal investigators raided his home, later being removed by Mayor Eric Adams.

While a Department of Education spokesperson did not confirm whether specific officials received subpoenas, they acknowledged that a subpoena had indeed been issued.
