The Staten Island Democratic Party has officially endorsed Andrew Cuomo for mayor, calling on him to enter the race against incumbent Eric Adams. Despite Cuomo not yet declaring his candidacy, the party expressed concern over Adams' ties with Republicans and his possible maneuvering to retain power. Citing Cuomo's proven leadership and understanding of outer borough needs, party officials argue he is best suited to tackle critical issues facing New York City, including corruption and declining quality of life.
We made this decision in light of recent news that our current mayor sought the nomination of multiple Republican chairs...and essentially handed the keys to New York City to the President.
Andrew Cuomo is the only proven leader with the track record of results and resolve to both navigate attacks from Washington and properly address the issues of corruption and deteriorating quality of life that our city faces today.
Andrew Cuomo gets Staten Island. He gets us. He knows the needs of the outer boroughs.
The executive committee overwhelmingly wants Cuomo to run Gotham.
