The Guatemalan migrant, who allegedly set fire to a sleeping F train passenger, illegally re-entered the U.S. after being deported and stayed in NYC shelters.
Sources revealed that the suspect first entered the U.S. in 2018 but was quickly deported. However, he managed to sneak back in and has since been living in multiple taxpayer-funded shelters.
Law enforcement has indicated that the migrant had a transit ticket in 2023, which listed an address of a shelter on Randall's Island.
Despite the severity of the alleged crime, it’s noted that the suspect does not have any prior criminal history, raising questions about his actions.
