Conn. man facing several charges after allegedly stealing fire department vehicle, conducting traffic stops

Kristian Avery, a 46-year-old man from Windsor, Connecticut, was arrested for allegedly stealing a pickup truck from the Windsor Fire Department and impersonating a police officer on Interstate 91. Troopers received reports of a marked Windsor Fire Department pickup truck conducting 'suspicious motor vehicle stops' on I-91 in Northampton and Whatley.
Shortly after State Police issued a bulletin to area law enforcement to be on the lookout for the truck, a trooper spotted the vehicle on I-91 in Deerfield.
Police and fire officials in Connecticut told State Police that Avery allegedly broke into the Windsor firehouse, started a fire, and stole the pickup truck.
Avery is facing several charges in Massachusetts, including receiving stolen property, impersonating a police officer, and negligent operation.
