Brooklyn fish pond is back just days after FDNY destroyed original aquarium: 'We are not giving up'
Briefly

Brenda Starr, one of the organizers, emphasized resilience, stating, "We are not giving up. That's the thing. We have not given up. And we're not giving up. We've turned this into something." This reflects the community's determination to maintain the aquarium as a vital neighborhood symbol.
Local resident Joan remarked on the significance of the aquarium, saying, "It's a very classic Brooklyn thing to just do something weird like that. This neighborhood's always been standing up to authority and this is a very lovely little, very innocent, wholesome way to stand up to something."
Shake Gonzalez contributed to the community's spirit by leaving a free little library next to the aquarium, noting, "It's a token of my excitement about joining the tight-knit community," which illustrates the aquarium's role in fostering community connections.
Visitors from out of town, like Jayca and her family, included the aquarium in their itinerary, showcasing its appeal by saying, "the family had been following the Bed-Stuy aquarium on social media and wanted to see it for themselves on their trip."
