A gas explosion in a coalmine in Iran's South Khorasan province has resulted in 51 deaths and 20 injuries, caused by a methane gas explosion affecting two blocks.
Ali Akbar Rahimi noted that 76% of Iran's coal is sourced from this region and emphasized the operation of major companies, including Madanjoo, in the area.
The rescue efforts in block B are completed and confirmed at 30 deaths and 17 injured; rescue in block C starts, with a high density of methane complicating efforts.
Iran's president, Masoud Pezeshkian, extended condolences to the families of the victims and pledged government support in addressing the aftermath of the disaster.
