Mayor Adams announced the closure of The Roosevelt Hotel, which has served as an essential center for asylum seekers since May 2023, facilitating various human services. During its operation, the hotel processed over 173,000 registrations from the influx of more than 232,000 migrants since spring 2022. The operational peak saw 4,000 weekly registrants, but recent numbers have declined to around 350. With this closure, the city aims to streamline services and save costs, while continuing to support migrants in their transition to a brighter future.
