Remembering the Buttfumble: A Pats Pulpit Thanksgiving Tradition
Briefly

I'm talking, of course, about The Buttfumble. In the New England area, it wouldn't truly be Thanksgiving unless we all took a moment to celebrate and appreciate what is still, even twelve years later, the single worst play in the history of the NFL. There have been some real contenders for the crown over the last decade-plus, but at the end of the day, The Buttfumble still reigns supreme by a margin even wider than Brandon Moore's waist.
You can talk about fake punts and botched snaps and Jakobi Meyers until you're blue in the face, but we all know that nothing can compare to Mark Sanchez faceplanting into Moore's ample rump and fumbling the ball right into Steve Gregory's hands. And that it happened on Thanksgiving night, the second-biggest football day of the year behind only Super Bowl Sunday, cements it even deeper into the very fabric of America.
Of course, Patriots fans will always remember the additional details of the game, from the date (11/22/2012) to the score to the three touchdowns in under a minute.
