Patriots offense finding positives in 'sweet and sour' loss to Colts
Briefly

In the end, it was more of the same for the New England Patriots on Sunday. Hosting the Indianapolis Colts at Gillette Stadium, they were beaten with a final score of 25-24 to fall to 3-10 on the season and officially get eliminated from playoff contention. Despite the nature of this latest defeat - the Colts scored the decisive points on a controversial two-point play with only 12 seconds left in the fourth quarter.
"Sweet and sour," explained running back Antonio Gibson. "I felt like everyone on both sides of the ball fought really, really hard. It shows what we are capable of. It's kind of been the story all season at this point. I'm proud of the guys for continuing to fight and playing hard. We just have to fix the small stuff that's beating ourselves."
In total, the team finished with 200 rushing yards - 59 of them courtesy of quarterback Drake Maye - and controlled the clock throughout the day. Add a 222-yard day out of the passing game, and you get one of the most balanced and productive outings the Patriots have been able to deliver in quite a while.
I thought this was the best performance from our offense that we've had all season," said an unnamed source. "Gaining 422 total yards, the Patriots advanced into Indianapolis territory on each of their first seven possessions and had to punt just once all day."
