The New England Patriots are facing significant challenges beyond just their player roster, as reflected in a recent NFLPA survey ranking them 31st out of 32 teams. Key areas of concern included dismal evaluations of the team's weight room and travel arrangements. Despite owner Robert Kraft’s involvement and plans for a new practice facility, analysts suggest that cosmetic changes may not be sufficient. Insider Albert Breer emphasizes the need for substantive improvements in the organization’s philosophy and operations to restore competitiveness in the league.
If the Patriots are making changes, how many of them are cosmetic, and how many of them are real? They've made some changes, but is it just like, 'Hey, we don't want to be embarrassed in this area, or is there a philosophical change in the way that you do business?"
This survey has actually worked, to a large degree. There are a lot of teams that have taken this to heart and have changed.
Kraft, New England's longtime owner, told reporters in 2024 he would be "very surprised if that didn't improve" in the future.
I even look at some of the renderings of the practice facility, and I mean aesthetically it doesn't look like... it feels like they should be doing a little bit more with it.
