New mock draft has Patriots taking top prospect with injury concerns at No. 4
Briefly

As the 2025 NFL Draft approaches, the New England Patriots are focusing on filling gaps in their offensive tackle and wide receiver positions. However, The Athletic's Nick Baumgardner predicts they will select Abdul Carter, a standout edge rusher from Penn State, with the No. 4 pick. Despite Carter's impressive performance last season, he faces uncertainty due to foot injuries. Baumgardner suggests that while Carter is immensely talented, his injury could cause him to slip in the draft order, with other players anticipated to be picked ahead of him.
Carter's foot situation certainly complicates matters, though I wouldn't rule him out as a top-three selection here. If he's healthy, Carter has a chance to be the best pro in this class. Foot injuries are very scary, however.
While several mock drafts have tabbed both Carter and WR/CB Travis Hunter as arguably the two most talented prospects in this draft class, Baumgardner believes that Carter will slip a bit on draft day.
