High-ranking executive leaving Patriots, per report
Briefly

Patrick Stewart, New England Patriots' pro personnel director, will leave the organization in 2025 to become the general manager at the University of Nebraska. Having spent two seasons with the Patriots and previously from 2007 to 2017, Stewart played various roles including scouting assistant. His departure follows critical comments by Eliot Wolf about the team’s research process during free agency. The Patriots will now need to fill his role, with Ryan Cowden and Sam Fioroni remaining on staff as potential options for succession.
Stewart has been hired as general manager at the University of Nebraska after serving as the Patriots' pro personnel director for the 2024 season.
Eliot Wolf noted that 'some of the information that we got on some of the players wasn't as thorough as it needed to be' regarding last year's free agency.
