Logan Thompson, undrafted in 2018, aimed to stay with the Washington Capitals after showcasing his skills at a development camp. Following a brief stint in ECHL, he gained confidence and signed with Hershey Bears. However, his desire to stay was overshadowed by better opportunities with the Vegas Golden Knights, leading him to a Stanley Cup victory. After being traded back to Washington, he solidified his role and recently signed a six-year extension, reflecting his journey of resilience and eventual success in the NHL.
I think that's kind of where it all started. I played in the [ECHL]; I won. I said, 'Okay, I can play in this league.' I just wanted to keep pushing myself from there.
Though Thompson had wanted to stay in Washington's organization, he saw the goaltending situation with the Vegas Golden Knights as a space with more opportunity.
