Joe Pavelski, a veteran in the NHL, announced his retirement at the age of 40 after a career spanning 1,533 games without winning the Stanley Cup.
Pavelski, who was known as the ultimate professional, had a remarkable career with 476 goals and 592 assists in 1,332 regular-season games, making him one of the leading players in the league.
Despite his playoff success with 74 goals, the most for a U.S.-born player, Pavelski is the only player among the top 25 in playoff appearances without a Stanley Cup title.
