With 1:52 remaining in the first period, Ovechkin deflected a huge Dylan McIlrath shot from the side boards past Flyers goalie Samuel Ersson, marking his 853rd career goal.
"Obviously it was a pretty crazy shot," Ovechkin said about the goal assist, stating he will take it and move on.
Ovechkin now has 23 goals in his last 36 games, ranking fifth in the NHL since January 27, with 31 goals this season, including 16 scored on the road.
The tally was also Ovechkin's 434th career road goal, the most in NHL history, remarking his consistency and prowess as a goal scorer.
