Super Bowl LX: Seattle star Kenneth Walker heads to free agency with MVP award on potentially his final appearance for the Seahawks
""I'm happy for him," Schneider said. "You want to see people be able to take care of their families and do whatever they can to increase their earning power. "Obviously we'd love to have Ken back. That stuff will play out in two weeks. We go to the combine, start talking to everybody and see what the landscape could look like for the spring.""
"Walker will never be in a stronger position after rushing for 135 yards on 27 carries, and adding a further 26 receiving yards in a one-man offensive onslaught that the Patriots could not match. His MVP award was the first for a running back since Terrell Davis in 1998. "I'm really happy for Ken; he played a tremendous game," Seattle coach Mike Macdonald said. "Everyone really dedicated themselves to the run game today, which is something we had to get going to really control the game."
Kenneth Walker III produced a dominant Super Bowl LX performance, rushing for 135 yards on 27 carries and adding 26 receiving yards to help Seattle defeat New England 29-13 and earn Super Bowl MVP. The MVP is the first by a running back since Terrell Davis in 1998. Walker becomes an unrestricted free agent next month and is expected to attract significant interest; Seattle general manager John Schneider said keeping him is increasingly difficult while expressing hope to negotiate. Coach Mike Macdonald praised the team’s dedication to the run game. Walker previously overcame life-threatening blood clots in both lungs.
