An official lineup of NFL-endorsed Super Bowl fan events largely omits San Jose and entirely omits Santa Clara, concentrating activities in San Francisco. San Jose and Santa Clara plan to stage independent events and watch parties. A 2016 study of the last Bay Area Super Bowl showed San Francisco captured most economic gains, with Santa Clara County receiving a small share. Santa Clara County faces budget strains and must plan security with little expectation of reimbursement amid federal funding cuts.
