""I didn't coach Lamar well enough," Monken said Thursday on the "Ryan Ripken Show." "I didn't have as good of a relationship as I could have. I didn't do the things we needed to do this year to win enough games to give ourselves a chance. I believe that.""
""I really wish Lamar would have been healthy and seen what we kept building on," Monken said. "Where went from '23 to '24, and then we just never got it going. That's what you have to live with.""
Todd Monken accepted responsibility for the Baltimore Ravens' offensive regression, saying he did not coach Lamar Jackson well enough and that their relationship could have been better. Monken is not expected to remain the Ravens' playcaller after Baltimore fired coach John Harbaugh and began a search for a new head coach. The offense fell to 16th in the NFL after returning nearly every starter from the prior season, a decline from the No. 1 ranking in 2024. Jackson suffered multiple injuries, missed four games and failed to finish two others. Monken disputed reports of a strained connection and noted Jackson's 2023 MVP and 2024 statistical success.
