Jets' fourth-quarter rally ends with heartbreaking loss
"The Jets celebrated in the end zone, jumping on and slapping Will McDonald following his dramatic special teams touchdown. Aaron Glenn ran down the sideline and then high-stepped a little when McDonald ran in the go-ahead score. It was quite a scene for the Jets. Dramatic. Emotional. Euphoric."
"Trailing 23-6 in the fourth quarter, the Jets' offense finally showed up. They scored three touchdowns in a span of under nine minutes. The last one was on McDonald's blocked field goal that he picked up and ran 50 yards for the score that made it 27-26 with 1:49 left. He hurdled over the offensive line to make the game-changing play."
""We're not the same team as what everyone says, ' Same Old Jets," Glenn said. "These guys are going to fight, no matter what the situation is. There's no give-up in them. I hate that term, and I really don't know what that term means. But I know this. They are not the Same Old Jets. These guys are fighters.""
The Jets overcame a 17-point fourth-quarter deficit to briefly take a 27-26 lead when Will McDonald returned a blocked field goal 50 yards, hurdling over the offensive line. Chase McLaughlin kicked a 36-yard field goal with no time left to give the Buccaneers a 29-27 victory. Early turnovers, penalties and ineffective offensive play contributed to the large deficit. The loss dropped the Jets to 0-3 in Aaron Glenn's first three games as head coach. Glenn emphasized the team's fight, and players described McDonald's play and the comeback as monumental.
