Former Patriots safety Duron Harmon announces NFL retirement
""Every good thing must come to an end," Harmon said in an Instagram post announcing the news. "What a beautiful journey it has been and I thank God for choosing me for this unbelievable experience.""
""I want to thank Coach Belichick, Mr. Kraft and the Patriots for taking a chance on me," he wrote. "Being apart of this organization for 7 years was life changing. You guys let me be apart of something that will forever be cemented in history.""
""What I will miss most is the brotherhood in locker room, which is really sacred to me," Harmon said. "I got to experience 11 years of that in the NFL, and seven of those years with the greatest organization ever.""
Duron Harmon announced his retirement after an 11-year NFL career that included seven seasons with the New England Patriots and three Super Bowl championships. Harmon was a third-round pick in 2013 and became a key contributor in the Patriots secondary, totaling 17 interceptions in seven seasons and earning the nickname "The Closer" for late-game interceptions. He later played for the Lions, Falcons, Raiders, Bears, and Browns. Harmon thanked family, teammates, fans, Coach Belichick, and Robert Kraft, and said he will miss the locker-room brotherhood most from his playing career.
