""It's almost like a slap in my face, bro," "I ain't gonna lie." "Did Philip Rivers send any type of sign that he was available?" "Why you asking me to do something that everybody else didn't do? I ain't no sucker. I ain't no lab rat. Come on, bro.""
""People be holding people to a standard that they ain't even holding everybody else to that standard. And that's what I don't like. 'Well, you ain't showed that you [are available].' Have you followed my Snapchat?""
Philip Rivers signed with the Indianapolis Colts despite not having played in the NFL for several years. Cam Newton, who also has not played recently and has not officially retired, expressed frustration that the Colts did not contact him before signing Rivers. Newton described the move as a personal slight and questioned why he should prove availability when other players received interest without doing so. A cohost noted that Newton's media presence might obscure his availability. Rivers spent 16 seasons with the Chargers and one with the Colts and is an eight-time Pro Bowl selection and Hall of Fame semifinalist.
