Silver floats idea of 10-minute NBA quarters
Briefly

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver expressed his support for potentially reducing the game length to 40 minutes, featuring four 10-minute quarters, to better reflect modern television and viewing habits. This change, while significant, raises concerns about the historical nature of the game and its impact on records. Silver mentioned that NBA games currently average over two hours, aligning more with movie lengths than traditional sports. Coach Michael Malone also voiced caution regarding losing the essence of basketball while adapting to contemporary demands.
As we get more involved in global basketball, the NBA is the only league that plays 48 minutes... I think that a two-hour format for a game is more consistent with modern television habits.
I hope we don't become Barnum and Bailey, or do whatever we have to do to keep viewership. There's a greatness and a history to this game.
