Lindsey Harding, an incredible journey to the Lakers' bench and an unprecedented next step
"My mind goes to: Did he get a DUI or hit-and-run or something? And they told me that he was arrested for kidnapping,"
"I was shocked because, 'Not [Chance]. This is a joke, right?'"
Lindsey Harding was the first Black woman head coach in the G League and kept her phone on full ring during her debut season to catch NBA call-ups. On Dec. 15, 2023, Stockton Kings assistant GM Gabriel Harris signaled for 6-foot-10 Chance Comanche, whose strong Tip-Off Tournament numbers (14.2 points, 62.8% shooting, 7.0 rebounds) made a call-up plausible. Harris then informed Harding that law enforcement had arrested Comanche. Four days later Comanche faced an extradition hearing in Sacramento and was shuttled to Las Vegas, where he was charged with murder, kidnapping and conspiracy in the strangulation death of 23-year-old Marayna Rodgers. Comanche pleaded not guilty in March and is expected to stand trial next year.
