Jared McCain, the first-round pick for the Philadelphia 76ers, has been diagnosed with a pulmonary contusion but thankfully did not sustain a concussion after a collision during a preseason game.
The incident occurred in the waning moments of the game against the Brooklyn Nets, where McCain fell hard after colliding with a defender, struggling to catch his breath and needing assistance off the court.
Despite his injury, McCain had a productive night with nine points and seven rebounds in just 23 minutes, demonstrating his skill potential early in his NBA career.
Having been drafted at 16th overall out of Duke, McCain has shown promise, averaging 12.8 points and 4.6 rebounds over the course of five preseason games for the 76ers.
