New York has announced $30 million in funding through the Drive Clean Rebate program to incentivize the purchase or lease of new electric vehicles (EVs). Governor Kathy Hochul highlighted enhancements to the Charge Ready NY 2.0 program, increasing funding for EV charger installations from $2,000 to $3,000 per port, and up to $4,000 in disadvantaged communities. An additional $3 million is allocated for educational community events and facilitating free EV charging. Since its inception in 2017, the rebate program has resulted in over 280,000 EVs on the road and 190,000 issued rebates.

Under the Charge Ready NY 2.0 program, the rebate for installing EV chargers at multifamily buildings will now increase to $3,000, with $4,000 for disadvantaged communities.
