IBM's NYC Hub Unites Innovation-Centric Teams Under One Roof
Briefly

IBM has centralized its New York workforce in a new headquarters located at One Madison Avenue, designed by the firm that completed its Toronto office. Spanning 270,000 square feet, the headquarters emphasizes team-based collaboration, featuring distinct zones for focused work, meetings, and relaxation. A striking Quantum Wave sculpture in the lobby exemplifies the firm's forward-focused culture. Amenities include the circular Blue Bar and an Innovation Studio, designed for co-creation and client experiences, underlining IBM's commitment to enhancing the user experience and fostering impromptu interactions among team members.
We really start with the user experience and mapping those journeys, and there was an opportunity for impromptu connections between team members that didn't always work together.
The headquarters accommodates more than 2,000 employees, so the workspace is divided into three key zones, which Budesa describes as "an ecosystem of spaces that support innovation."
At the Innovation Studio, a dedicated customer-centric space with a range of briefing rooms, partners can co-create with staff members and experience IBM's work first-hand.
A central gathering spot with sweeping views of Madison Square Park, it serves as a coffee bar during the day, and doubles as a cocktail bar after work hours.
