Amazon is restructuring its Books business, leading to job cuts affecting fewer than 100 employees. The decision, communicated via an internal email, is aimed at improving efficiency and aligning better with the company's roadmap. Affected employees will receive severance benefits, including full pay for 60 to 90 days, depending on their location. Despite the layoffs, the overall size of the Books business remains unchanged, as roles are being repurposed within the company. Amazon has a long history in books, having started as an online book retailer in the 1990s.

As part of our ongoing work to make our teams and programs operate more efficiently, we made the difficult decision to eliminate a small number of roles.
