A Taste of Trinidad on Long Island: Trini Bites brings Caribbean flavor to the suburbs - Caribbean Life
Briefly

Renee Davis, a first-generation Trinidadian-American, launched Trini Bites in 2021 to fill the gap for Trinidadian cuisine on Long Island. Formerly a nurse, Davis's passion for cooking thrived amidst her family's limited Trinidadian food options after moving from Brooklyn. Starting as a pandemic pop-up, Trini Bites quickly grew into a catering business and food truck, heavily supported by the local community. Davis aims to expand her reach while showcasing the vibrant flavors of her heritage, marking a significant milestone in introducing Trinidadian cuisine to East Coast diners.
"Growing up in a Trinidadian household in Flatbush, the idea was that you had to go into a field that was secure and safe," Davis said. "So I went into nursing."
"We noticed very quickly that there were minimal options for Trinidadian food here on the Island," Davis explained.
"It was very well received by the community," Davis said.
"Trini Bites is one of the few Trinidadian cuisines available in Nassau County."
