Initially, the room was set up as a kids' room with a mountain motif. The blue and gray paint felt cold, unfinished, and dated, but I hoped we could turn this into a cozy cottage oasis.
One of the biggest projects was a DIY built-in unit with a Murphy bed, which I believe made the biggest difference. It turned the room into a functional space with a striking cabinetry design.
We knew completing this room would force us to purge junk and create a designated play space for our daughter's toys, which were taking over our living room.
After scouring tons of Murphy bed ideas, I found that adding faux inset cabinets to the front helped to hide the Murphy bed, allowing it to blend in seamlessly with the room.
