PD Planning UK has submitted an application to Sutton Council to demolish four garages on Clarendon Road and Elgin Road in Wallington, aiming to construct nine residential units, including seven flats and two semi-detached houses. The flats range from one to three bedrooms, while the houses will be four storeys high, designed to match neighboring Victorian architecture. Concerns have been raised by residents regarding increased road disruption during construction and existing parking shortages, despite the site's favorable transportation links, including proximity to Wallington railway station.
The applicant emphasized that two semi-detached houses will be designed to blend into the neighborhood, using yellow stock brick elevations to complement the existing Victorian buildings.
Despite the benefits of more housing, residents voiced concerns about added disruption and parking issues, highlighting that Clarendon Road already suffers from heavy vehicle activity.
