Fresh Paint Gives the Old Cabinets in This "Dark, Drab" Kitchen a Breezy New Vibe
Briefly

Emily and Evan Raciti transformed their Palo Alto kitchen from dark and drab to fresh and modern by painting cabinets blue-gray, installing new countertops, and DIY tiling.
Emily expressed that the outdated kitchen had 'solid bones' but needed a cosmetic uplift, stating, 'it was a bit dark and drab with black tile counters and old, chipping wood cabinets.'
Highlighting her design process, Emily said, 'I searched for tons of photos of blue kitchens and pieced together bits from several of them,' focusing on a cohesive aesthetic.
Emily took on the project of tiling herself, showcasing her DIY skills: 'I used spacers to make sure the tiles were aligned and applied tiles with a thin-set glue.'
