Hazel Lopez, leasing manager at 420 Carroll, expressed, "I feel like every day, I walk to work and there's something different and exciting going up," highlighting the dynamic transformation underway in Gowanus due to the new residential developments.
Jason Hill, the marketing director at Domain Companies, mentioned, "Rezoning to residential has now created this opportunity for residents, developers and the community to again utilize that land for better use," indicating a positive shift in urban planning as a result of the 2021 rezoning.
420 Carroll offers 360 apartments, with 90 designated as affordable. Lopez revealed the pricing structure: "We're offering studio to three-bedroom homes and it ranges between about $3,000 to $10,000," showcasing the range of options available to residents as the neighborhood develops.
The ongoing construction is a response to the 2021 Gowanus Neighborhood Rezoning, with an expected 8,500 new apartments to be built, accommodating about 20,000 new residents over the next decade, but opposition exists due to the area's pollution history.
