What Happens Now That Congestion Pricing Has Been Halted

Gov. Kathy Hochul unexpectedly halted New York's congestion pricing plan, which aimed to raise $1 billion annually for the city's mass transit system. It was supposed to start on June 30 but is now indefinitely delayed.
The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (M.T.A.) had already set aside $15 billion of the expected funds from congestion pricing for vital subway projects. It's uncertain when the M.T.A. board will vote on the issue or how they will handle existing contracts.
