Report: Bronx districts still lead the way in affordable housing construction - Bronx Times
Briefly

A recent report from the New York Housing Coalition revealed that New York City added 27,000 affordable housing units in 2024, marking a 10% increase compared to the previous five years. The Bronx outperformed other boroughs, particularly District 15, represented by Oswald Feliz, which accounted for 7,706 new units over 11 years. Despite some criticism of shelters, Feliz expressed pride in the affordable housing progress. District 42 in Brooklyn also emerged as a key player in new unit production, particularly for very low-income households.
The progress that our city has made with the addition of affordable housing units in New York City is essential to battle the ongoing housing crisis effectively.
District 15 includes the neighborhoods of Fordham, Belmont, East Tremont, West Farms, Van Nest and Allerton and saw the addition of 7,706 affordable units between 2014 and 2024.
