NYC protesters demand Schumer step down over budget vote: 'Devastating lack of leadership'
Briefly

Approximately 100 protesters gathered outside Sen. Chuck Schumer's home to express their anger over his support for a GOP-backed spending bill. Organizers from Indivisible Brooklyn criticized him for a lack of leadership, warning that he's not meeting the challenges of the moment. Protesters called for new leadership in the Senate, accusing Schumer of betraying constituents by not standing up against what they perceive as a fascist agenda. Despite the backlash, Schumer has remained determined to keep his leadership role, not commenting on the protests as frustrations mount among his base.
Since then, Senator Schumer has been pleading his case on multiple platforms, but New Yorkers aren't buying it. Schumer is not meeting the dire moment: It's time for new leadership in the Senate that will fight fascism tooth and nail.
Jennie Spector, one of Indivisible Brooklyn's organizers, told The Post that Schumer "really betrayed us and betrayed the people who are counting on him to step up and protect us from what is clearly a fascist government in the White House."
Schumer is facing an 'epic proportions' backlash after he and nine other Dems voted in favor of a Republican spending bill that avoided a government shutdown.
One protest sign read, 'Lost spine, if found please return to Chuck,' reflecting the sentiment of those who feel Schumer has failed to stand firm against GOP pressures.
