During a House oversight hearing focused on sanctuary cities amid New York City's migrant crisis, Mayor Eric Adams found himself in the crosshairs. Although facing indictment on federal corruption charges, he was criticized by fellow Democrats, including calls for his resignation. Adams denied any wrongdoing and refuted allegations of a possible quid pro quo with the Trump administration in exchange for case dismissal. In contrast, Republican lawmakers praised his collaboration with ICE, noting that such efforts aimed to enhance public safety by targeting violent illegal immigrants.
Mr. Homan called such assertions simply disgusting, adding that Mr. Adams was trying to protect New Yorkers from violent illegal aliens and that by working with ICE, lives will be saved.
Three called for his resignation. Several grilled him over whether he had agreed to a quid pro quo with the Trump administration that would allow his criminal case to be dropped if he cooperates with the president's immigration crackdown.
