Michael Patrick DeSalles, 54, has been charged with second-degree murder for allegedly killing his boss, Omid Gholian, in Tribeca in 2017. The incident occurred on February 14, when DeSalles allegedly used zip ties to strangle Gholian at their jewelry store. After the crime, DeSalles fled to Mauritius. He was extradited back to the U.S. recently, with District Attorney Alvin Bragg expressing hope for justice for Gholian's family after years of investigation.
I hope the victim's loved ones can take some measure of comfort that this defendant will finally face accountability in New York, said District Attorney Alvin Bragg.
According to court documents, on Feb. 14, 2017, DeSalles allegedly attacked his boss, 51-year-old Omid Gholian, and tied two zip ties tightly around his neck.
