Briefly

On May 2, a significant brawl erupted in Times Square involving police. Responding to the disturbance around 7:45 p.m., officers faced aggression, including objects being thrown at them. Mayor Eric Adams reported that while some individuals fled, others confronted the police, resulting in one officer being injured. Following the incident, three teens were arrested, with the investigation ongoing to identify up to six additional suspects. The Mayor emphasized swift justice and lauded the police's rapid response in apprehending the initial suspects over the weekend.
"We're still investigating to find out exactly what happened, but I can assure you that everyone that is responsible will be brought to justice," Hizzoner said.
"We're not going to allow people to attack the symbol of our public safety, and those are the men and women who wear the uniform."
"We're not going to rest with just three arrests, and just show you how quickly we responded. We want all nine involved and brought to justice," Adams added.
"I just want to really commend our detectives and our investigators and the men and women who are on the front line doing their job every day having to deal with an assault such as this."
