Democrats let 'no tax on tips' pass the Senate. That doesn't mean they actually back Trump's campaign promise.
Briefly

The Senate passed a bipartisan "No Tax on Tips" bill with no Democratic opposition, surprising some lawmakers. Sponsored by Senator Ted Cruz and Senator Jacky Rosen, the bill aims to exempt tips from federal income tax, aligning with one of Trump's campaign promises. Despite the unanimous consent process allowing for no objections, several Democratic senators expressed ambivalence or concerns about its fairness. Some suggested alternative approaches to improving worker livelihoods, like raising the minimum wage, indicating a divided opinion on the best method to support tip-dependent workers.
I'm a little amazed the Democrats didn't block it. But I'll take yes for an answer.
It's obviously great for people who make their incomes off of tips. It's just a question of fairness.
The other way is to raise the minimum wage, and sort of eliminate a tip-based economy.
If no senator shows up to object, it passes.
