Citi Bike-riding gunmen shoot 2 in NYC in overnight mayhem: NYPD
Briefly

In a violent series of incidents across multiple boroughs in New York, two individuals were shot by gunmen on Citi Bikes. A 32-year-old man was shot in the torso on East 146th Street, followed by a 35-year-old woman who was shot in the leg near Mott Haven. While both victims were stabilized at Lincoln Hospital, the situation escalated with other shootings reported later in Harlem and Astoria. Despite the violence, shooting incidents in New York have reportedly decreased this year compared to the previous year, raising questions about safety perceptions in impacted neighborhoods.
The woman was an innocent bystander, said a neighbor who did not want to be identified. 'She was walking home, as she came into the building she got hit,' the neighbor said. 'She is ok. She got home from the hospital.'
Gunshots are familiar fare in the neighborhood, another resident said. 'I live on the 18th floor. I heard three gunshots. One, two, three,' said Jess Fernandez, 69. 'I don't know who got shot. But it happens all the time.'
