Central Park's six-mile loop is about to undergo a major redesign
Briefly

The New York City Parks Department is initiating a six-week renovation of Central Park's six-mile loop to improve safety measures for pedestrians, cyclists, and e-bikers. The redesign is driven by an increase in e-bike usage and aims to redefine existing lanes into 'flex lanes' for e-bikes and cars with permits. This effort will include enhanced separation between users, new bike paths, and updated traffic lights and signs, all intended to reduce collisions and increase safety for the millions who enjoy the park annually.
With this innovative redesign of the park drives, we're making it easier and safer for New Yorkers to bike, jog, and stroll through Central Park's six-mile loop.
The much-needed improvements include more space for, and better separation between, pedestrians and cyclists, as well as new traffic lights and pedestrian crossing signs.
