The Fair Fares program grants eligible New Yorkers with subway and permitted bus rides for half the price, introduced in 2019 to aid low-income individuals.
Under the new Fiscal Year 2025 Budget, $20.7 million will be allocated to Fair Fares NYC, extending eligibility from 120% to 145% of the Federal Poverty Level.
Already, 335,966 New Yorkers are enrolled in the Fair Fares program, with an expected increase to over one million qualifying individuals under the new expansion.
Eligible New Yorkers can apply for Fair Fares NYC conveniently online or through the mobile app, making it easier to access discounted transportation services.
