A crew of young assailants attacked two NYPD officers in Times Square while attempting to rob other youths. As officers intervened, they became targets, with the attackers throwing objects like an umbrella and baseball at them. Police arrested several individuals, including a 12-year-old suspected ringleader linked to the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua. NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch highlighted the importance of the gang database in quickly identifying the young perps, despite opposition from the City Council to eliminate it.
The officers were trying to step in when they spotted the baby-faced brutes trying to rob a pair of youngsters Friday evening at the packed intersection of West 42nd Street and Eighth Avenue, law enforcement sources said.
Among the items thrown were an umbrella and a baseball, police said.
The cocky brats even flashed gang signs and posted pics on social media while handcuffed inside a Manhattan police precinct after being busted in the attack on cops.
NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch announced Tuesday that a fifth migrant teen, a 16-year-old recidivist, has been arrested.
