Netflix has signed a new streaming deal with 'Sesame Street', allowing new episodes to air simultaneously on Netflix, PBS, and the PBS Kids app. The arrangement seeks to maintain the show's presence on public television while expanding its reach globally. Sesame Workshop expressed excitement for the partnership, which facilitates access to educational content. The upcoming Season 56 promises episodes focused on character development and emotional learning, with adjustments to enhance storytelling and explore the show's iconic setting further. The initiative aims to blend entertainment with education for children worldwide.
"This unique public-private partnership will enable us to bring our research-based curriculum to young children around the world with Netflix's global reach, while ensuring children in communities across the US continue to have free access on public television to the 'Sesame Street' they love."
"The more kids want to hang out with our characters on 'Sesame Street,' the more they're going to take in those lessons," said Perez, adding that there would also be updates to the show's look and feel.
