Paint Recycling Made Easy: How to Reduce Waste
Briefly

PaintCare is simplifying the sustainable disposal of unused paint in New York City. Since its inception in 2022, over 2 million gallons of paint have been collected from more than 370 drop-off sites. The program focuses on reusing and recycling paint to minimize environmental damage. Expert tips for better paint management include buying the right amount, properly storing leftovers to extend their usability, and donating usable paint. By collaborating through the PaintCare program, residents can effectively manage paint waste and protect the environment.
"Our program ensures paint is reused, recycled into new paint, or disposed of properly to minimize environmental impact," said Andrew Radin, New York State Program Manager for PaintCare.
"Most people simply buy more than necessary just to be covered," noted Radin. "Using paint calculators or consulting professionals can help minimize waste and save money."
"If we work together and paint smarter, we can get the most out of every can while protecting our environment," emphasized Radin.
"Unused paint doesn't have to be wasted paint," Radin emphasized.
