A pickpocket targeted an 89-year-old man at Rockefeller Center, stealing nearly $5,000 in cash. The incident occurred at around 4:40 p.m. as the elderly victim navigated the subway stairs. The thief, appearing to be in his late 20s or early 30s, bumped into the victim before snatching a wallet containing $4,700 in cash and a debit card. The victim reported the theft the following day, and as of Monday, the suspect remained at large. Interestingly, subway grand larcenies have decreased this year compared to last, according to NYPD data.

The elderly victim was going down the stairs inside the 47th-50th Streets-Rockefeller Center station when the much younger thief bumped into him.
Grand larcenies reported within the city's subway system are down so far this year, with 188 such incidents reported as of Sunday compared to 253 during the same period last year.
