Lori Traore, a mother from Queens, unexpectedly gave birth at home while in the shower, unaware of her pregnancy. After delivering her baby girl, whom she found unresponsive, she called for help. During a reunion ceremony in Brooklyn, Traore expressed heartfelt gratitude to the EMS personnel, including Lt. Jimmy Guailaceia, who were crucial in saving her and her daughter. The ceremony highlighted the impactful role of emergency responders, with evidence reflecting their dedication as they respond to 1.6 million critical calls annually.
"Honestly, I'm holding back tears right now because I know if it wasn't for them, my daughter wouldn't be here," Traore told The Post, pointing at Lt. Jimmy Guailaceia, who held her 9-month-old, Ellen Mystique, in his arms.
"God sent the FDNY to help make miracles happen," said Michael Fields, chief of EMS operations for the city. "EMTs work as God's Force Multiplier, making the miraculous possible."
