Tim Groth's newborn son, Cole, suffered life-threatening complications after what was meant to be a routine circumcision at a New York City hospital. Initially diagnosed with congenital heart disease but otherwise healthy, Cole was supposed to be discharged to his family. However, following the procedure, he nearly bled to death, experienced seizures, and sustained organ damage. Over ten days, he underwent multiple surgeries, was put on a respirator, and faces a long recovery process. Groth has filed a grievance with the hospital, expressing deep frustration and sadness over the incident.
"Cole had to receive blood transfusions daily and had multiple surgeries - including one on his stomach since parts of his intestines had failed due to the blood loss."
"It's just horrible," he added. "He looks like he's been through war; he's pale, vascular ... you see the hole in his stomach for the ostomy bag."
"All of it was so avoidable and so unnecessary. Part of me is really sad. My son is obviously suffering ... you wouldn't wish this on your worst enemy."
