Kenhy Sarrias-Buelvas, 37, was charged for fatally shooting 16-year-old Kemari Sanders in the Bronx. Sanders, paralyzed by a gunshot wound, survived six weeks before succumbing to his injuries. His mother, Selena Cox, expressed her sorrow and anguish over losing her son, feeling regret for letting him go out that night. Video footage helped police identify Sarrias-Buelvas, who fled after the shooting.
I wish I never said he could go, Cox said, weeping. This man has f**ked up my life up.
After the shooting, Sarrias-Buelvas allegedly fled into a nearby laundromat where detectives were able to obtain surveillance footage of him.
